Kimberly Hickerson

Kimberly Hickerson is an accomplished Program Director with two decades of experience
leading transformative initiatives across the behavioral health and early childhood education
sectors. With a proven track record in strategic program management, cross-sector collaboration,
and grantmaking, Kimberly is dedicated to building healthier, more resilient communities
particularly for youth and families.

Currently serving as Program Director at the Down East Partnership for Children, she oversees a
$5.2 million multi-departmental budget and leads a team of 14 professionals delivering
integrated services in early childhood education and family support. Her leadership has advanced
innovative, trauma-informed programs, strengthened community partnerships, and elevated the
voices of underserved populations.

Throughout her career, Kimberly has held key roles in nonprofit leadership, disaster response,
and community relations, championing public health solutions at both grassroots and policy
levels. She has co-developed school-based mental health programs, presented at statewide
conferences, and facilitated strategic initiatives addressing the opioid crisis and the stigma
surrounding mental health.

Kimberly holds a B.A. in Psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She is a
former Certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer and Recovery Ally and actively engages in
community leadership through board service and advocacy. In recognition of her commitment,
she was named Small Business Advocate of the Year (2024) and received the President’s
Award from the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce.
