Since August 2018, Dr. McLeod has served as president of Edgecombe Community College. He is a graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned a bachelor’s degree in math education as a NC Teaching Fellow scholar, North Carolina State University where he earned a master’s degree in training and development and a certificate in business management, and Barry University in Florida where he earned a Ph.D. in leadership and education.
In addition to serving on the Strategic Twin-Counties Education Partnership board, Dr. McLeod is a member of the American Association of Community Colleges Commission on Economic and Workforce Development and the North Carolina Association of Community College Presidents where he serves as vice-chair of its legislative and policy committee. He also serves on the NC Community Colleges Developmental Education Advisory Council, the ECU Health Edgecombe Hospital Directors’ Council, the Upper Coastal Plain Learning Council, and the boards of the Tarboro-Edgecombe Chamber of Commerce, the United Way Tar River Region, NCBAA Southern Region, and the Carolinas Gateway Partnership. He is president of the Tarboro Rotary Club and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Sigma Pi Phi Boulé, and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
Dr. McLeod is also a strong believer in mentoring and serving the community. Over the years, he has actively served as a mentor to middle school, high school, and college students and developed and led technology camps involving computer coding and robotics. He has also helped coordinate and lead a variety of youth leadership and career exploration programs and occasionally teaches a college success class to new students at the college.
