Dr. Ellis has enjoyed a long and successful career in public education spanning almost thirty years in North Carolina. Since 2016, he has served as the special assistant to the superintendent for the Wilson County Schools in Wilson, North Carolina. Prior to assuming his current position, Dr. Ellis served as the executive assistant for student services for two years and as a middle school and high school principal for twelve years. Dr. Ellis began his career in public education as a middle school social studies teacher. Dr. Ellis has an impressive academic background as well. He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from Barton College. He went on to earn a master’s degree in educational administration from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Ellis looks forward to the opportunity to lead the Nash County Public Schools and to further strengthen his ties within the community.
